As public awareness of mental health in the workplace begins to proliferate, so does the number of Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) representing their organisations. Whilst it's not yet compulsory for businesses to have a MHFA, many employers are already starting to send their employees on professional training courses to receive this accreditation.
The course teaches in-depth skills for providing first aid to those that may be experiencing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and psychosis. Amie Daniels, Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental (QHSE) Officer at Passionate About People (Datum RPO's parent company), volunteered to complete the MHFA course and is now a fully-qualified first aider in mental health.
Amie commented:
"I'm so proud to have become an accredited Mental Health First Aider, there is a huge stigma over invisible illnesses and as a community we must break this, as 1 in 4 people are estimated to have a mental health illness. Following this course, I will be making positive differences with our workplace in-line with our well-being strategy."
We'd like to congratulate Amie on her MHFA accreditation, and we look forward to her future contribution to our growing well-being and CSR strategy.
