Every year is the same, you (and your colleagues) pretend like it's no big deal and you're "not bothered this year", when in fact, in the lead up to voting day, you go home every night plotting how you can grab yourself some extra votes by squeezing in an extra tea round for your team or setting up 'you vote for me, I'll vote for you' false promises.

Crackdown on Modern Slavery: victims freed as construction raids continue to sweep the nation

Agents from the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) staged two modern slavery construction raids last week.

In Coventry a 44-year-old Romanian man was rescued and two suspects are in custody helping with enquiries.

Passionate About People employee, Amie Daniels, accredited with Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)

In the UK, mental ill health costs UK employers an estimated £34.9 billion each year, the equivalent of £1,300 for every employee in the UK workforce. 

Broken down, that's £21.2 billion (61%) in reduced productivity, £10.6 billion (30%) in sickness absence and £3.1 billion (9%) in replacing staff who leave their jobs for mental health-related reasons.

Flying High: Datum RPO hot air balloon amongst the 170 that set new UK record at Longleat Safari Park

From Friday 14th - Sunday 16th September, Longleat Safari Park staged the UK's largest hot air balloon festival, with a record-high of 170 hot air balloons rising into the air, covering the Wiltshire sky with vibrant colours and obscurely-shaped inflatables (including Longleat's own lion, a wolf named Wes, a household battery and even an oversized Hunter wellie). 

The perfect early-morning autumnal weather helped pilots and their crews smash the previous record of 130, with Longleat writing history and being placed in the hot air balloon hall of fame.

Throughout 2018, Datum RPO, along with its sister company, Omega Resource Group, are raising £20,000 for 20 charities, in celebration of the groups' 20th year anniversary under parent company, Passionate About People Ltd

Building on the £15,000 the group have raised presently, Datum RPO employee, Hayley Clancy, managed to raise an impressive £660 following her 15,000ft skydive on Sunday, 9th September.

Where's my money? Complaints about recruitment agencies up by 50% in 2018

According to a report conducted by the Employment Agencies Standards (EAS) Inspectorate, complaints about recruitment agencies increased by 50% in 2018, in comparison with the previous year. 

The labour-market focussed Government enforcement body received 1,261 complaints, compared to just 828 in 2017, with the majority of the complaints centred around the failure of recruitment agencies to pay their staff for all hours worked. Hospitality and healthcare sectors witnessed most complaints, totalling just under 25% of all complaints received.

The detrimental effects of Brexit: 2018 sees the largest annual fall of EU nationals working in the UK

On 29th March 2019, the UK will leave the EU, with or without an agreement, due to Theresa May triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty back in March of last year. Since then, we've heard rumours, opinions, debates and recommendations, but ultimately, no one really knows what we're heading for on the 29th March, not even Theresa and her cabinet. 

This being said, what we do know are the statistics. Released just last week, the ONS (Office of National Statistics) shared its latest figures on EU nationals working in the UK (or lack of) in 2018. According to ONS, there were 86,000 fewer EU workers in the second quarter of 2018 than in the same period in 2017, the largest annual fall since comparable records began in 1997.
